Clay Pits BBQ - August 31st 2013

Following an Enclosure Award in 1868 the area now called the Clay Pits was used by residents of Crunwere Parish for the removal of stones for road repair and clay for domestic heating.

After these activities ceased the area became very overgrown and inaccessible.

Hard-working members of Llanteg Community Association cleared and enhanced the area for recreational purposes, with a very pleasant lawned enclosure and pond.

The first public function was a B.B.Q. which was held on Saturday the 31st August.

The B.B.Q. was well attended and was a most pleasant and enjoyable time with the benefit of a beautiful sunlit evening.

Grateful thanks to all those who have participated in this project for the benefit of the community.

Carew Walk 13th July

c. John James

On Saturday the 13th July 2013 members met at the car park overlooking Carew Castle for a walk organised by Llanteg Community Association.
It was a beautiful summer's day with some stunning scenery.  The walk commenced along the footpath from the car park alongside the crystal clear waters surrounding the castle.  After negotiating a number of stiles along rights of way we approached the Old Mill which is a splendid tribute to those involved in its preservation and a positive reflection of the busy hustle and bustle of years gone by.
After crossing the main road at Milton we ambled past the Old Water Works and headed for Carew Cheriton Church which we were told is one of the largest churches in Pembrokeshire; a truly remarkable spectacle and well worth a visit with its stunning architecture.
A visit to the nearly graveyard with graves of Airmen who lost their lives during the war was an important part of the agenda with the ground attended to with such care and precision.
We concluded our walk by retracing our steps towards the Old Mill where we enjoyed the refreshing comforts of a well earned cup of tea.
This was a most enjoyable experience with very pleasant weather and good company around an area of 2 3/4 miles of historic significance and beautiful scenery.
Again many thanks to Jill Chatwin for arranging the walk and monitoring the route.
